Elder Field Whitewashes! (He Never Wants To Do It Again)

Hey guys!

So last email I talked about all the changes that would be happening haha let me enlighten you on the result of all the changes!

So first to start out, I got a new companion! His name is Elder Ricks! He is pretty cool, we actually get along really well, he comes from a family of 5 and he is the youngest, he is from South Jordan, Utah. So two good old Utah boys haha. We both are 100% new to the area, so it's been a struggle just to get on our feet hahaha. He also is a district leader, so we are co-district leaders, which is cool. We have our first district meeting on Tuesday, so we will see how that goes haha.. I have high hopes so should be fun :)

I'm in the Rincon Valley ward! In Santa Rosa! haha So I'm actually in the ward next door to President Wright’s ward haha it's quite weird seeing him as often as I do haha I don't know if I like it or hate it. President is the coolest guy on the planet though. He teased me the other day in the district leader meeting we had on Friday. He was talking about motivating our districts and how to do it. He then looked at me and said, in front of everyone mind you, "Elder Field! How did you do it?"

"How did I do what President? "

"Your previous district is in mourning. I got 5 emails the other day telling me how mad and distraught they were that I was taking you away.  They say “I can't believe you took Elder Field away. President how could you!” and Elder Field I'm starting to feel a little hated down there haha"

Hahaha apparently I did something right down in San Rafael, but to be honest I miss the missionaries down there a lot, they were my family out here haha, I will hopefully see them again. I get to see them at zone conference, so I will be counting down the days haha. But until then I will try and develop the same sense of family and community in the new district, anywho!

So this week has been insane! I feel like I have just been running and running but haven't been getting anywhere hahaha! It’s a strange feeling. So we started Tuesday off with a lot of good byes. The hardest people to say goodbye to was the district and the Schroeders, I talk about them a lot haha but they are good people haha! So after 4 or 5 phone calls to different district members and other people from the ward, we got to Santa Rosa, said goodbye to Elder Siebach and found Elder Ricks and the race began. We went to go find the sisters, who were previously in our area, we talked to them from a brief second and then they had to peace ou,t so they took off we got their phone and car but the apartment keys were missing. Unfortunately, we weren't moving into their apartment, so they started searching for the keys to our actual apartment. Well the apartment hasn't been lived in for 5 months soooooo they lost the keys, so we waited in the mission office for 45 mins while they went to go get new keys.

Once we got our keys, we went with the apartment coordinator senior missionary couple to go and check it out......  Well.....  It was.....  Haha interesting, very messy dusty, and just gross, so we planned that day and the next to clean,  because we weren't able to do it all in one day haha so the first two days were spent cleaning the apartment from top to bottom. It was fun, got to know the companion, but yeah it was fun. We had some awesome dinners with the few ward members we have met. They apparently have been wanting Elders in the ward for a while now, for the past 4 years they have had sisters and we are their first set of elders since then haha.

We met our first investigator (and I'm pretty sure only one)  Gabriel. Don't know much about him because he really hasn't opened up to us at all, but he is cool, he is a nice guy. He has had a Baptismal date before but it didn't go through, but he is still progressing, the ward loves this guy soooooo haha there is some pressure on getting the guy baptized but all is well he will be baptized sooner or later. Hopefully we can help him progress to that.

We met the ward on Sunday. Bishop has only been bishop for 4 weeks haha so he is brand new, so he is in the same boat as us. They gave us some names to go see so this week so we are going to go see, and we have a lot of finding planned haha going to pick us up some new investigators!

Oh I almost forgot! The world Wide missionary broadcast was a couple of days ago! The missionary schedule was changed just a little bit. We now only have 30 min lunches and we can go to bed at 9:30 if we want to! So cool stuff! There were some other changes that really didn't effect much but yeah cool stuff!

Man this week was a tough one but it was good.  I have been truly learning how to fully depend on God this week. Especially going into a new area that me and my companion know nothing about. We have been really relying in God to guide us. I have always struggled to put my trust in God to be 100% honest. But I'm working on it. There was something good in my last ward, someone got up and talked on this specific subject, they said what does it take for us to trust someone? Well you have to know them, you have to have a personal connection with them. You need to know what makes them, them. So from this moment on for the rest of my mission. And hopefully longer than that. I’m going to get to know Christ haha. I'm reading about his life in the New Testament.   I'm reading Jesus the Christ, and I got to permission to read The Infinite Atonement, which I am excited about!! I just want to know my savior, and what he has done for me. That way I can more fully put my trust in him. And of course I still need to just have faith and do things anyway which I'm doing I just want to know more about him anyway :) So if anyone knows anything else I should read or questions to ponder let me know, I want to absorb everything I can.

Anyway I think that's all for this week! Love you guys! Hopefully your weeks were good!

Love you all!
