Elder Field and the Torrential Storm

Hey everybody

So a lot of you asked if i have been experiencing the raining and flooding that northern California has been getting.....

......yes..... yes, I have......

My dear friends and family never have I experienced rain like this..... except for that one time in Florida when we got caught in tropical storm Andrea, that was interesting hahah. Never has the primary song "The rains came down and the floods came up" spoken more true to my soul ;)

Now don’t worry I myself have not flooded, but the roads most definitely have haha. Anyway! I will explain more about the rain and wind later!

This week has probably been the most eventful week of the mission haha, the week actually started our pretty rough...... I talked about Celeste last week..... well, we had a lesson with her on Monday that went alright, we then scheduled a church tour with her on Tuesday. Well.... the church tour was going awesome until the very end. She informed us that she doesn't want to get baptized and that she will be remaining Catholic. :( She broke up with us. We told her how much we loved her and talked to her and found out that she would feel like a traitor if she converted. So she made up her mind and said she will not. We had to drop her as an investigator unfortunately.... we told her she has our number if she changes her mind. So I will keep her in my prayers and hopefully she has a change of heart :) Either she will accept it in this life OR I know for a fact that she will accept it in the next :)

That's pretty much the only exciting things until Thursday haha. We did a lot of less active finding and tracting actually haha not much success, but it's all good. Good experiences for Elder Siebach since it was his first tracting experience. Hahaha it was kind of cool to watch. He was so scared to knock on the door and I looked at him and he was just white face. So we had a conversation that went like this.

"Wait, you’re making me knock on the door?!"
"Uhhhh, yes Elder. Haha and I'm making you teach the gospel… kinda what you are called to do"
"Dude I don't know..."
"Bro! Haven't you been dreaming of being a missionary your entire life?!"
"Well yeah...."
"Dude you’re a missionary right now!! You have been dreaming of knocking doors and talking to people since you were in primary!"
"Well, yeah, I guess you are right."
"You know I'm right! Now buck up and knock that door and convert that person!"
"Yeah!!" *knocks on door really loud*
"Woah Woah Woah don't want to pound the door down or freak the poor people out!"
*we both proceed to laugh quite hard*

Guys I freaking love Elder Siebach. It's really cool watching him experience all the "firsts" of missionary work haha.

Anyway things got really interesting Thursday night. After a long day of tracting we went to the church to fill up water bottles, sit down for a hot second, update area book etc. Well we pulled up to the church and noticed that the sister missionaries were here and their car was...... very broken. Their back bumper was destroyed and they had no left tail light, (forgot to take pictures sorry!) I then go all district leader momma bear mode and run in the church to see what happened! The sisters were sitting in the family history corner. Sitting at the computer, I walked in and they sheepishly said hi, I very casually asked them about their car. They had gotten into an accident on the freeway. They were stopped in traffic in a long line of cars that were trying to get off the freeway. Well a FREAKING MOVING VAN swerved into their lane and plowed into them. The damage was surprisingly low because that moving van was going at least 40 MPH. And they didn't hit the car in front of them. And they were uninjured except for some whiplash. Can you say protected by God!? Ahahah. After explaining all this, they were trying to fill out the accident report online. But they were both dazed and shocked about what happened they couldn't do it, and it just so happened that all our lessons that night got canceled. Strange how that happened right?? ;)  So my companion and I stayed and filled out the report for them. Then we called the mission office to let them know what happened. We went to dinner, then after dinner we went back to the church to figure out what to do for the night. Well sister Jeffery was still in a daze so we called the mission nurse and explained what happened. She told us we needed to go to the emergency room....... I guess it is church protocol. So we spent the rest of the night in the emergency room. They were totally fine and they were prescribed some pain killers, so yeah hahaha fun night.....

Now we are in a pickle hahaha the sisters have no car. So Elder Siebach and I have become their taxi service haha we drive them to appointments. Hahha it's a lot of fun.

Friday we weekly planned with the sisters to coordinate our schedules haha.

Saturday we did a boonies trip with the sisters. We bought a bunch of snacks, water bottles and then headed to go visit all the less actives on the out skirts of the ward boundaries.  People who live roughly and hour or more away from the church haha.  That took us 5 hours haha it was fun though. Met some really awesome people and really crusty people like usual haha.

Sunday was awesome and crazy busy. Had an awesome ward council where we presented our work on the ward list haha. They were very impressed about it. And it looks like a I'll be getting a lot more help from the ward which is awesome!! :) We also taught a primary class...... which I don’t know if it’s allowed, but the ward was in a huge pinch so we helped out.... that was..... fun..... ahahah very crazy though....
We also went to Catholic mass this Sunday along with Sacrament Meeting haha!! We went with the sisters investigator Jim!! It was super cool!! It was really cool to see the similarities between churches!! Haha they are so close to the truth they just...... are missing some pieces haha! Anyway just thought I would include that :)
Anywho! That's pretty much it for this week!!! Hope all of you had a great week! Know that I love you all lots!! :) Know that God loves you all and he truly does know each and every one of you and is giving you strength everyday :)

Love you!!
